The CREW is meeting in room 328 from 3-5pm every Monday.

Today the CREW did fun crafts with Nan and her friend/co-teacher. We started by making spiral stars, using pieces of paper glued around into spirals, and then glued the six pieces all together. Then we moved to making boxes out of green paper, and made cool paper collages to put on the top.

Some CREW members stayed after school to help bag up the cookies. We're selling them 2 for $.50. The hand-decorated tags were a big hit. In between 5:30 and 6 CREW members arrived in front of Café Med on main st, Camden, to start the sale of cookies! Thanks to generous donations from Susan and the high school kitchens, Alyssa's father's friend's cupcake shop, and Matt, CREW sold hot cocoa, cupcakes, and brownies as well as our many, many cookies. We got good reviews of the food all night long (the cocoa was a favorite). It was cold, and CREW found their feet, faces, and hands freezing by the end of the night, but spirits were kept high, particularly by Brystle's dancing.

Quick, non-mandatory meeting in the kitchen to help bake!
    November 25th, 2012
Today the CREW went down to the school kitchens and made some cookie dough! We made sugar and chocolate chip cookie dough, and then put them in the freezer to be cooked later. The process was most definitely fun, and many thanks to Matt for figuring out how to use the industrial mixer. At the end we realised that we'd made far to many cookies (perhaps more than we'd intended). Nan, Alyssa and I had a competition over who could put the cookies on the tray faster (which I won.). Brystle and Kelly plan to go back and cook them up on Thursday.

Crew met up to discuss what's coming next! We decided to definitely go with the Christmas by the Sea table, and began focusing on what that entailed.

    November 5th, 2012
CREW thought up a new plan: a table at Christmas by the Sea! We're going to sell cookies, brownies, cocoa and cider. We wrote out some tags - hand decorated - the price lists, and finalized the plans for November 30th.

Today we continued to plan for the Haunted House at the Rig in Camden that we're hosting on Halloween night. We painted tombstones with interesting or funny messages, decorated some eerie Wizard-of-Oz style disembodied legs, and had a good time. We also spent time going over what we hope to get out of CREW, and why we want to be there. Some of the more typical answers from students: "It's a fun place to be after school," "To meet people," and, of course, "To help the community." The mentors responded with: "Feeling needed/wanted and like I mattered," "Helping the community," and "Meeting and helping young people." The general consensus was that we all wished to emerge with a warm, fuzzy feeling from our time together, and from helping other people.
